Does a child need a father figure?

It is always said that same-sex couples should not have children, otherwise the child will lack a father figure. Is there any truth to it or is it just a prejudice?

------------------------

There are a few studies that have looked at this and they all came to the same conclusion. Children have no disadvantages whatsoever from having same-sex parents.

So yes, statements like these are based on either prejudice, ignorance or both.

------------------------

There is a difference whether the child is raised by a person who loves the child and wants the best for the child - or whether the caregiver is just someone in the environment.

You could also ask whether a child absolutely needs school in order to learn. No, it doesn't need it. Learning at home from older siblings or a parent should also lead to learning successren... but who would do that when there is a school? The diversity and quality of a regular school should be preferable from the perspective of learning success.

It is very difficult to measure quality - especially in social relationships. Common sense also helps when there are no measuring tools.

------------------------

There's definitely something to it...when I met my wife, the short one was 16 months old and you could clearly tell that he was instinctively looking for a father...he addressed every male person as dad u hoped that someone would react....you could totally tell how relieved he was when I reacted to it...since then he's been an absolute daddy's boy...even at 16.

------------------------

I think there is a difference between children who never had a father figure and children who had to give up their father after a certain age.

I believe soHis sons find it even more difficult without a father because they lack a role model. In the case of same-sex marriages (two women), I would therefore rather look for a daughter.

------------------------

What does “search” mean? You can't choose the gender of your child

------------------------

I thought about adoption. In principle, with a sperm donor the child would have a father.

------------------------

As long as the child is loved, everything is great. However, there are certainly differences between, for example, raising two women and raising a hetero couple.
